Students across the Unity Schools Partnership have been celebrating after another successful set of A-level results.

Samuel Ward Academy in Haverhill and Thomas Gainsborough School in Great Cornard joined our newest secondary school – St Edward’s Academy in Romford – in celebrating the success of their sixth formers.

Exciting plans to rename and reinvigorate sixth form education in Haverhill have been unveiled by Samuel Ward Academy Trust.

From September, the Haverhill Community Sixth Form will be the new offering for further education students in the town and surrounding areas.

As the weather continued to shine over Suffolk this weekend, most adults will be glad to have put their school exam days behind them - and especially what it meant to be revising when the weather was glorious.

Exams of course are not only a rite of passage but crucial in terms of each young person's further opportunities.

Mark Neild, the headteacher at Samuel Ward Academy, has been appointed to a post with the Paradigm Trust.

Mr Neild will be moving on from the Haverhill school at the end of this term and replaced by an interim head, Nick Froy, between September and January, until a new appointment is made.

A secondary school student has vowed to help give Haverhill a voice after being named the new Youth MP for West Suffolk.

Kathiravan Parthipan, 15 from Haverhill, has begun his new two-year extracurricular role alongside studying for his GCSEs at Samuel Ward Academy.
